Taylor worked as a janitor at Yale New Haven Hospital for almost a decade, starting at age 18 shortly after graduating from Wilbur Cross High School. Her initial goal was to just earn money to support her family while her mother was ill.
Her mother battled a mysterious illness, and Taylor saw healthcare disparities and a lack of compassionate care, which inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2017 with a degree in biology and is in her fourth year of doctoral studies at Howard University College of Medicine.
Currently, Taylor is working as a sub-intern/visiting resident physician back at Yale New Haven Hospital, walking the same halls she once cleaned. She will graduate and earn her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in the spring/summer of 2026.
