Thousands Stranded in the Caribbean

Canceled flights have left thousands of people stuck in the Caribbean following the capture of Venezuelan President Maduro. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the Federal Aviation Administration has restricted airspace in the Caribbean and Venezuela to ensure the safety of the flying public, in support of the Department of War.“When appropriate, these airspace restrictions will be lifted,” he said on the social platform X.

The flight disruptions also threaten voyages for travelers planning cruises in the region. As of late Saturday morning, it wasn’t clear how long the airspace closures in the Caribbean would last.
