Update 1: About 100 students at Eli Whitney Technical High School staged a protest and walkout Monday morning after alleged incidents of sexual harassment and threats of violence against students inside the school. Carlos Aldave, the school Principal, plans to meet with students and families on Tuesday at 6 PM.
Update 2: Parents and students met with school officials to address allegations of sexual harassment. However, there is no security plan in place. The accused harasser is still allowed in the building.
According to parent Jasmine Reed, there is clear evidence the accused has sexually harassed young females at and around the school. There might be more student protests today.
Update 3: The student accused of harassing female students has disenrolled. The principal informed parents of this new development via email on Thursday morning. According to parent Andrea Hutchinson, students flooded calls to the offices of Governor Ned Lamont and the United States Representative Rosa DeLauro.
After that action, the school administrators finally decided to remove the young man from the school. Counselors were available at the school today to make sure students feel supported.
