Hamden Will Shift to Renewable Energy

Image

Did you know Hamden is going green? The city council recently approved an energy plan that involves building microgrids that have the ability to incorporate renewable energy sources and sustain electricity services during natural disasters.

The town will work with Noresco to install ground-mounted solar arrays and wind turbines on brownfields, reservoir areas and vacant open space.  Their main goal is to cut energy use in city and school buildings below 2019 levels by 15 percent by 2025.

A microgrid could enable nearly total renewable energy by integrating battery storage and smart controls. More details on the 2021 Hamden Municipal Energy Plan are here.
