The Smithsonian Castle in Washington, D.C., is temporarily reopening to the public from May 22 through September 7, 2026, pausing its ongoing five-year renovation to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary. Admission is free.
During this limited run, the historic building (located at 1000 Jefferson Dr SW) will serve as the central hub for visitors. Operating hours are daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Dine at the Castle Café Summer Shack. It is a seasonal New England-inspired pop-up located inside the Castle on the National Mall.
