Thalles Winner DeSouza is a first-generation college student and former Wendy's manager who went viral this month after being accepted to Yale University on a full scholarship. While managing a Wendy's shift in Massachusetts, his franchise bosses recognized his potential and awarded him a scholarship to fund his community college education.
He was admitted to Yale via the Eli Whitney Students Program—a specialized initiative for non-traditional students. DeSouza will be attending Yale University in the Fall of 2026 to study political Science and pre-law, with aspirations for a career in public service.
