Immigration Raids in Danbury, Connecticut

ICE detained more than 60 people in Danbury, CT, during a series of enforcement actions in late August 2026. The heightened activity and arrests began on Monday, August 24, 2026.

They continued over multiple days and led to rapid-response tracking by groups like Danbury Unites for Immigrants and CT Students for a Dream. Local leaders, including Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves, report that school attendance dropped by hundreds of students because parents are fearful of taking their children to school or letting them wait at bus stops.

In addition, business owners describe parts of the city as a ghost town due to widespread anxiety about potential family separations. Federal immigration officials usually do not announce when targeted enforcement operations will start or end.
