A state law signed in June 2026 requires public schools to integrate computer science and artificial intelligence into student instruction. The Department of Education and the Commission for Educational Technology are actively building comprehensive guidelines for local schools.
While districts, including nearby New York City Public Schools, have implemented strict temporary bans on generative AI for younger students, Connecticut has taken a proactive approach, focusing on ethical, safe, and structured adoption. Starting this school year, computer science instruction is officially a part of Connecticut's public school curriculum.
