According to American national security advisor Jake Sullivan, an American aid worker kidnapped in Niger more than six years ago and held hostage by terrorists is finally free.
Another senior administration official briefing reporters confirmed Mr. Jeffrey Woodke’s release and said that the United States had not paid a ransom or made other concessions. Woodke's wife Els, of McKinleyville, Calif., said the United States government had notified her that her husband no longer is a hostage.
