Petty Officer Scott Ruskan, a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer, is being recognized as a hero for saving 165 people during severe flooding in Texas on July 4th weekend. He was part of the team responding to the flooding along the Guadalupe River, particularly at Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls. Ruskan was the only triage coordinator on scene during the rescues.
