New Haven Police Chief has resigned.

New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson resigned on January 5, 2026, due to allegations of theft and misuse of public funds, as announced by Mayor Justin Elicker's office. This led to Assistant Chief David Zannelli becoming the acting chief. Elicker and other officials will provide an update at 6:30 p.m. tonight at New Haven Police Headquarters.
