Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained a Southern Connecticut State University student.

A recent ICE arrest at Tweed New Haven Regional Airport involved Deng Deng, a 19-year-old SCSU student-athlete from South Sudan. The detention took place on September 4, 2026. 

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Deng legally entered the United States but overstayed his visa. ICE detained him while he was preparing to board a domestic flight, and he is currently being held at the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island.
