Recess Capital focuses on expanding girls' and women's access to sports.

Recess Capital is a sports investment platform founded in June 2025 by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and her husband, sports management professional Asser Malik. The private equity firm is devoted to driving gender equity and capitalizing on the fast commercial growth of women’s sports.

The name and mission come from Malala's childhood in Pakistan, where boys took over local grounds during school recess while girls were not allowed to participate. Read more about the platform here.
