The TCS New York City Marathon races will start tomorrow, November 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. ET.

The first race in 1970 cost just $1 to enter and featured 127 runners who ran four laps around Central Park, with only 55 finishers. In 1976, the race expanded to cover all five boroughs to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial, an idea designed by long-distance pioneer Ted Corbitt.

It is one of the largest marathons worldwide, seeing over 55,000 to nearly 60,000 finishers. Many of the runners get to the start line for free via the Staten Island Ferry and dedicated shuttle buses.
