The new Center for Infection & Immunity at Yale, with Dr. Akiko Iwasaki at the helm, focuses on the immune responses of people with long COVID. The team is committed to finding out if there are any medications or therapies that can help alleviate long COVID symptoms.

Iwasaki's efforts include using machine learning tools and showing that vaccines directed toward the mucosa might provide better protection than vaccine shots. She has facilitated a collaborative network of investigators already working at Yale and has enthusiastically recruited a diverse group of junior scientists from within and outside of Yale.
