Connecticut's new $20 million wrong-way crash prevention system involves installing cameras on wrong-way signs at 16 locations. These cameras will trigger flashing lights when a person drives the wrong way.

According to Department of Transportation officials, impaired drivers cause about 80 percent of wrong-way crashes. Police have increased patrols and other enforcement activities to curb the problem; if you decide to go bar-hopping or clubbing, having a designated driver who can get you home safely is imperative.
