Flying as an Unaccompanied Minor

Image

Child development experts agree that five is a good age for most kids to start flying unaccompanied. Unless your child has a developmental delay, they can handle solo travel.

Most airlines require an adult escort to the departure and arrival gates. Several allow minors between 5 and 14 years of age to travel to national and international destinations.

The unaccompanied minor service fee varies. A list of airlines that offer this service is here.
