Passport-Free International Travel on the Horizon

Officials say Singapore's Changi Airport will introduce automated immigration clearance in 2024. It will allow passengers to depart the country without physical documents but rather with biometric data (methods of identifying people based on their unique physical or behavioral characteristics).

The upcoming changes will reduce the requirement of repeatedly presenting travel documents at touchpoints. Biometrics will eliminate the need for boarding passes and passports.
