PETase for a Greener Planet

PETase has only been around in large quantities for about 55 years. It belongs to a group of plastics called polyesters that occur in nature.

They protect plant leaves and as the enzyme breaks down plastic, the bacteria produce MHETase, which finishes the process by breaking down the pieces further. Read more on how PETase helps fight plastic pollution here.
