The city of Valencia in Spain is the birthplace of paella. The climate is mild year-round and public transportation is safe and inexpensive. Here are 6 reasons to visit Valencia, Spain:

1. It is famous for the City of Arts and Sciences

The City of Arts and Sciences offers guided tours and workshops related to science, technology, nature, and art. It consists of six areas in the dry river bed of the River Turia.

Designed by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in July 1996, it is the personification of modern architecture. Guests are welcome 365 days a year.

2. The Central Market

Central Market, the largest of its kind in Europe, offers a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, seafood, meat, novelty gifts, and wine. It is open from 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM daily.

3. Live Dancing

See a live flamenco show in Valencia at Radio City. Inspired by the gypsy culture of Andalusia, flamenco dancing is energetic and passionate.

4. Free Museum

The Municipal Historical Museum is in the Town Hall Square. Entry is free and it features art and the Crystal Room with grand chandeliers.

5. Historic Train Station

The North Station is the central railway station in Valencia. It is next to the Plaza de Toros de Valencia and less than a mile away from the town hall. In addition, it is a representative monument of civil modernist architecture.

6. LladrĂ³ Boutique

Find a wide selection of handmade LladrĂ³ figurines at the Valencia boutique. The company, founded in 1953, designs, manufactures and distributes art porcelain creations.

In addition, I loved being able to practice my Spanish with the locals. They are welcoming and helpful.
