Mexico has elected a female president.
Mexico’s projected presidential election 2024 winner, Claudia Sheinbaum, will become the first woman president in the country’s 200-year history. The National Electoral Institute’s president said Sheinbaum had between 58.3% and 60.7% of the vote.
She is a member of the left-wing political party Morena. She assumes leadership of a nation confronting numerous challenges — with security issues at the forefront.
