A weapons detection system is coming soon to New York City subway stations.

The NYPD’s controversial subway metal detector program is in the deployment process in NYC subway stations, Mayor Eric Adams said Wednesday at a joint press conference with the MTA. The system, Evolv Express, provides concealed weapons detection that uses advanced sensor technology and artificial intelligence to help pinpoint the location of potential threats and differentiate them from many everyday items.
