The Hamden Police Department has plans to open a substation in the Hamden Plaza.

A proposed Hamden Police satellite office would occupy an empty retail space between Ashley's Ice Cream and Wells Fargo, according to an application submitted to the Hamden Planning and Zoning Commission. The 5,550-square-foot space is also near Hamden High School; it would be the main office for the police department's school resource officers and members of its Community Liaison Unit, according to the application.
