An Exodus of Refugees from Ukraine to Countries in the European Union
The mass exodus of refugees from Ukraine to the eastern edge of the European Union shows no signs of abating. The U.N. estimates that more than 500,000 people have already escaped.
They must go through checkpoints at the borders of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, and non-EU member Moldova. Some of the refugees cross the borders on foot.
Airbnb.org, a company-affiliated non-profit set up to provide housing relief during international crisis, will collaborate with resettlement agencies to assist the refugees. Approximately 100,000 people have found a place to stay through Airbnb since 2012.
