The Hamden Police Department expects to adopt a policy requiring officers to use seatbelts to strap in all persons transported in the prisoner transport van. A seatbelt is a potentially life-saving device when a vehicle accident occurs.
Active Chief Wydra has prepared revisions to the current policy for the Police Commission to consider for approval.
The Police Commissioners will likely vote on the changes in September 2022.
